Providence, RI
When I saw them in Providence, the summer of 2001 (on the Double Take tour), The Waiting was one of three bands opening for them. I don't remember the other two. I do remember that Pete Orta (I think that's who it was; it was during that big-turnover period. Maybe it was Ronny Cates?) played guitars...

I'll be there (which is more than I can say for my general presence on this board) -- driving all the way from San Angelo! My last attempt to see Petra (in Grand Prairie) failed miserably, so I'm quite nervous about this one, it being my last chance and all, but my college roommate works for Power F...

San Angelo
It's in the 40s here today, the coldest it's been since last winter, and it's cloudy/rainy. It's funny that you mention the rain because this year has been very rainy, so you actually got to see green West Texas, haha. It's usually pretty brown. Yes, everyone loves hs football here. I could take it ...

Disappointment in Grand Prairie
After driving 3.5 hours from our house in San Angelo to pick up my wife's brother in New Braunfels, and driving another 3 hours to Grand Pairie to see the last date of Shoutfest, then sitting through 6 hours of bands we didn't care too much about (although a couple weren't bad, and Tait was impressi...

John, the wedding singer?
Hey all, I know John has done weddings before for people; I was wondering if anybody had any info as to whether he still does that, for whom he does it, how much he charges, etc etc... I'm getting married in August; I introduced my fiancee to Petra, and "Love" is one of her favorite songs, so I figu...

Steve Taylor?
I love Steve Taylor, but the lyrical differences between him and Petra are pretty extreme. He definitely goes more for sarcasm/satire, and Petra's forays into that area are rare... Why not Glenn Kaiser? Or if you're looking for female vocalists, why not his wife, Wendi? The Rez Band gets no respect!...

Feel old yet?
I was at an antique store in New Braunfels, TX, and was just looking through some records and came across "More Power to Ya" and "Beat the System" for a total of $7. I snatched them up because records make cool posters nowadays, and togethwer with "Never Say Die," which a friend gave me, I have thre...

Wow
Man, I feel like an idiot. I always assumed it was Volz doing the lead on all the songs. Although upon inspecting the CD liner notes, there are no "vocals by" credits, so i feel a little better. Still, that's something else. I never had any indication from listening to the songs that it was Volz doi...

Acoustic cover albums
I hate to bring this up, but saying "Double Take" is one of the best acoustic cover albums ever made is kind of like saying the Leaning Tower of Pisa is one of the most structurally sound buildings constructed on soft ground with an unsteady foundation... In other words, there ain't that many of the...

CCM and etc.
I have problems with 12 Stones, Evanescence, even POD (which some may remember I am a big fan/defender of), when they say, "We're JUST Christians in a band, not a Christian band." I understand the logic, although I do not subscribe to it. However, it seems to be used increasingly as a copout to avoi...

Long time coming...
The Agony Scene played two weeks ago at my college, but I went home, so I didn't get to see them. I had heard that they were on Solid State Records which is a subsidary (or was, anyways) of Tooth and Nail. So, my question is, are they Christian? Hey, SepUn, sorry for the long response delay.....

Disney = the Beast?
I can make whatever comments I'd like to about Night of Joy, thank you very much. I enjoyed some of the performers. I just didnt like what some of them said about Disney World..I have the right not to like what some of them said..They are Christians, not perfect, I know, but I dont want them to sel...
