Re: CP-New Record
I'm sorry, I thought we were talking drums and JDB. "Snare, hat, and kick..." Brent, you say "warm, authentic, and natural". When I listen to the JDB era, maybe it's my imagination, or just my untrained ear, but I hear "synthetic" as opposed to "authentic and natural". That was the 80's, wasn't it? ...

Re: CP-New Record
When people mix drums now, they do not get that the center of the drum kit is the snare, hat and kick, and the mics need to be positioned that way. JDB got it. So much of today's drum imaging is smeared and out of phase, because most of these guys do not get it. They were not trained by real engine...

Re: CP
One of the main rules of public speaking is "Know your audience." For example, in some churches, don't even mention "Dance", much less be found practicing the vile behavior. "CP" for Classic Petra works fine, here. I don't think it would catch on outside a board such as this. Then again, I'm not Swe...

Re: Looking for concert date from many moons ago...
You're quite welcome.
Thankfully, the Battle Plan photos are up on the John Schlitt site. That made the date a lot easier to track down.
God bless!

Found it... August 31, 1991!

FWIW - that photo also confirms the Agape date (May 4).

Re: Looking for concert date from many moons ago...
November 18, 1990 was at the Fox Theater... I was there. :) Petra came to Six Flags in 1988 and 89 in April (maybe 90, too, but not the beyond belief tour). It would have been sometime in 1991. September 30th, 1991, was the last beyond belief concert, I think (in Springfield, IL). I'd be surprised i...

Re: Missteps
It's kinda hard to judge CP as a misstep since it is playing out right now, unless you know something the rest of us don't? I for one don't see it as a misstep, but I see it lacking a market that I think CP needs to get going full throttle again. They need a WOW album like they had with MPTY, BTS, ...

It's kinda hard to judge CP as a misstep since it is playing out right now, unless you know something the rest of us don't? Not necessarily CP, but CP Live. It is just my opinion, but it's based on what's come before (CITAS & Farewell) and how I see things playing out now - if you'll pardon the pun...

Re: Missteps
Ahh, so much to comment on, but I'll keep with the topic... Missteps 1) J&H was way too SHORT!!! (barely 30 minutes???) Good grief, at least do a real version of "Breathe In" or "The Longing" :o ... see point 2. 2) DoubleTake.... In 1987 it was "THIS MEANS WAR!", in 2000, it became "this means war."...

I do not know if it is available as a CD. John's website has a digital download of the album. This link should get you there.

Re: John & Dino Elefante's group "Mastedon"
how many albums did Mastedon (not to be confused with Mastodon...a completely different band) put out? All I've heard are "It's a Jungle Out There!" and "LOFCAudio." Both of which are quite good. I do wish John Elefante's solo work hadn't been quite so poppy (although "Pass the Flame" is a great so...

Re: 2012 Election
I honestly thought Christians in the US don't have a choice. How does one balance free will with the sovereignty of God? Maybe that's a matter for a different topic. :) God deposes kings and sets them up, according to the prophet Daniel. However, He placed some in the United States of America where...

Re: John vs Greg IMO
We got a little bit here... not nearly what Alabama and Mississippi got over the last couple days. For us, the power was out at home for a few minutes. The area around our church got hit pretty hard, but aside from the power being out for a couple days, the church was fine. Some of our church family...
