Re: Petra Is Done

I've not been around in a while, but thought I'd check in here. Interesting discussion. While I'd love to see Petra with Volz in concert one last time (saw them on the NOTW tour, then saw them a few times later with Schlitt), I'm okay with them being done. I'd probably buy any album they'd put out, ...

Toad the Wet Sprocket back together

Any TTWS fans here? They are probably my favorite band from the 90s and I was very happy to finally see them in concert last summer (I was overseas with the church by the time they had their first radio hit, and they disbanded about the time I returned to the US!) I just discovered yesterday that th...

Re: Petra songs without keyboards

As a youth in the 80s, I was into keyboards, so I loved big heavy synth sounds along side the big crunchy guitars! In college I slowly transitioned from playing keys to guitars, though I still occasionally dabble on keys. But I never really lost my love for keys...albeit alongside toneful guitars! I...

So how do their first two releases compare to Revolution of Mind? If they're as good I'll definitely need to check them out!

Re: Watching Classic Petra Right Now!!

My wife and I watched, but didn't finish it yesterday...I think we're about half-way through the concert. My wife was giving Louie a hard time for being so emotional...during the show she was like "He looks like he's about to cry right now!" But it was all in fun...it's cool that being in Petra mean...

Re: Missteps

I think their biggest mistake was trying to change with the times and adopting a more contemporary, "grungy" sound instead of sticking with the straight-ahead rock they were known for. Their fans would have stuck with them even if they were no longer considered the top Christian act in the industry...

Re: BTTR VOL 2?

With so little news, I'm losing confidence that their tour will be extensive enough that I'll be able to see them...which would be a real shame! Here's hoping I'm wrong!!

Re: Journey

Wow...I'm surprised by all the love for the new album. Personally I'm a little disappointed. I've been a Journey fan since Escape came out in 1981...it was the second rock album I purchased...and while there are some good songs on Eclipse, it's not what I was hoping for. I think Revelation is their ...

Re: Which mix do you prefer? (Improving Back to the Rock alb

When asked to choose, I chose A. But find the difference subtle at best. While the additional highs sound pleasing initially, as I get older I find that more treble tends to lead to ear-fatigue earlier, at least for me. Whether or not that would be the case here, the only way for me to know would be...

Re: 2012 Election

I heard about something on NPR a while back that I really liked...they were health cooperatives. I work at at credit union (financial cooperative), so I believe in the power of cooperatives. It's been a while and I don't remember all the details, but the basic premise is that people join a health co...

Re: 2012 Election

There is no evidence that malpractice lawsuits have led to any increase in health care costs, either directly or because of "defensive medicine, according to the Congressional Budget Office and the Government Accounting Office. ( Source ) One economist says malpractice lawsuits add $12 per person p...

Re: 2012 Election

The rest should be worked for, it shouldn't be a wealthy persons fault if someone is lazy, doesn't want to work to earn their own damn health care. Govt. and health need to stay the heck away from each other! I lived in Australia for years under that system, it is a failure. Maybe if some Americans...

Re: Top 5 songs with Greg

Okay, narrowing down to the top 5 is harder than I thought it'd be! So I'm going to cheat a bit and give my top 6! Adonai is probably my all-time favorite Petra song, and the last two I'd say are tied for fifth place...those in the middle are in no particular order. And these are all based on origin...
