Re: Angel of Light and Grave Robber Now Added to Samples
Hard to say If I like these. I really should since I've NEVER been happy with the production quality on the original albums , but these do sound a lot like the originals. Actually they do sound better, it's just they sound very similar, like they are playing the songs the same way 30 years later. OK...

Re: CD Tracks Officially Announced
I was really looking forward to Hollow Eyes. I'm a little dissappointed in the selection of clean- that song never did it for me but hopefully the new recording will.

Phil Collins solo sounds a lot like Genesis
Steve Perry Solo sounds a lot like Journey
Peter Cetera solo sounds a lot like Chicago
David Lee Roth .... well the cover songs sounded a lot like VH when they did covers.

Re: Classic Petra Blog Mentions John Schlitt
Speaking of lead vocalist changes, I can't help but think that the Newsboys' shift from Peter Furler to Michael Tait is probably the biggest such switch in Christian music since Petra. Has to be. It may be the biggest single improvement to the band aside from teaming up with Steve Taylor. John Jame...

Re: Classic Petra Blog Mentions John Schlitt
Journey's situation does not really parallel Petra in the least. As mentioned earlier it closer resembles Van Halen. That being said Arnel is not a better musician than Perry. Arnel is not bad but he does not have the blues influence that made the Journey sound so unique. Consequently the new Journe...

1990 Armed and Dangerous. My brother bought it home from college. I was in high school and by the time Beyond Belief played I was sold. For the day it sounded great and contemporary. Fired up was next, my step brother got it for Christmas awesome as it was. Then came Unseen Power. Sweetness. They we...

Re: Not bashing Petra, just an honest question.
I was never a huge fan of this album either. I've stated before nut is was so soft, it barely felt like a rock and roll album. Granted Just Reach out sounds really great, there are a lot of real stinkers on the album. That intro at the beginning of Praying Man actually brings the song down and ruins...

He may be a little immature but jiminy crickets he was pretty mild. He got banned for that? Some folks have gotten a lot more vile discussing religious minutia and they are still here.

Looks really cool. It reminds me of something that might have come out in the early 80's. I can't wait to hear it.

IMO you still need to wire your house for at least a little broadcast tv or cable. Streaming video still does not lookas good as broadcast. Also, People that watch shows on DVD usually have to wait until the end of the season and then they either purchase the DVD's or subscribe to a service, which s...

The videos that I have seen coming from South America are great. I wonder why there seems to be a lot more Petra fans there than in the states?

Batman is a psycopath. Superman may not be human but he was always in far better health mentally than Batman.

Re: New Classic Petra Update as of 7-23-10
Point of order- REO Speedwagon was not a one hit wonder, and they have more than a handful of popular songs. Cronin is not he best singer in the world, but his voice worked for the Wagon. In 1981 they were still pretty huge, so if someone claimed to turn down REO then they were turning down a huge b...
