Yamasaaaki is right..."greatest hits" collections are subjective. But here's what bugs me about this particular collection... Bob Hartman picked these songs, right? And he's writing the liner notes, right? Yet, the balance of songs is way off. See what I mean: BEAT THE SYSTEM: 4 songs represented BE...

What?! Nothing from GOD FIXATION? Not even one single song? If what BrotherTom is saying is correct (that Bob did not choose anything from that particular album because he was not actively involved), then why didn't Bob choose "St. Augustine's Pears"? That songs has both the music and lyrics written...

If anyone is interested, there is a very good book out that puts a lot of the TBN evangelists under tremendous scrutiny. The title is CHRISTIANITY IN CRISIS and it is written by Hank Hanegraaff. This book opened my eyes to a lot of the unbiblical (and downright blasphemous) teachings and doctrines t...

I agree with a lot of people's opinions stated on this thread about Petra's near-constant personnel changes as being a factor in Petra's decline...which started around the NO DOUBT album. I remember reading an two-page interview with John Schlitt in HM magazine around the time GOD FIXATION was relea...

When did Petra's "downward slide" begin?
Hoo boy...do I like starting controversy!  Although we all love Petra, it is common knowledge that Petra had been on a "downward slide" (in regards to lack of CCM radio airplay, album sales, concert attendance, etc.) over the past 8-10 years until JEKYLL & HYDE was released. But my qu...

GOD FIXATION...forgotten album?
I was listening to the live FAREWELL album, and I realized that (except for the PETRA PRAISE albums), nearly every album with Schlitt as vocalist is represented (barring his 1st with the band, BACK TO THE STREET)...except for GOD FIXATION. I mean, not one song from the album is played, even in the r...

Well, Sue, I was thinking one day that John might want to write his autobiography. I mean, the man has had two careers in music (as vocalist for Head East and Petra), and, from what I have heard, has an amazing testimony...which I would love to read about. Think about all the interesting stories he ...

Yamasaaaki...your titles are killing me! Here are a couple of serious titles I thought of... PETRASPECTIVE: My Life and Times in Petra FROM SINNER TO SAVED (book jacket bio: "How Jesus Christ rescued John Schlitt from drugs/alcohol/secular rock and turned him into a vessel to reach millions of...

John Schlitt's autobiography
If John Schlitt were to write his autobiography, would you buy a copy? Think about it...stories about his being the lead singer of Head East, his testimony about accepting Christ as his Saviour, how he became the lead singer of Petra. He would have a ton of info about the recording of Petra's albums...

For my favorites, check my signature below. Okay, I'm a little late to the debate on this one, but here goes my dream set list... * "Beat The System" (from BEAT THE SYSTEM) * "Seen and Not Heard" (from BEYOND BELIEF) * "Woulda Shoulda Coulda" (from JEKYLL & HYDE) * "Dance" (from UNSEEN POWER) * "Mine Field" (from ON FIRE!) * "No Doubt" (from ...

Hi epdc and Shell... No, I never got any letters. I suspect that when my wife moved out back in mid-February, she forwarded all of the mail (hers and mine) to her new address. She probably threw away any mail I got. I had to go to the post office and get things straightened out to get my mail coming...

Hello to the Pethead Nation...I'm back!
Greetings! This is St_Augustines_Pears, and although it's been awhile...I'm back (like a belch from a bad onion!). Well, a lot has happened since I was last online. My wife and I are still in the process of our divorce, mostly due to the fact that she needs $500 to finalize it. I stedfastly r...
