Re: Poll: Not of this World (1983)

You know, after reading the polls and having all these albums, I was listening to them today as I traveled back and forth to/from work (where I have a nursing home ministry and I play for the residents of the homes) and it was really cool to hear the progression. I got to This Means War! today befo...

Re: Poll: Beyond Belief (1990)

My only real complaint is about the recording process on this one. Is it just me or does the second side (Underground through the rest of the album) seem a little dull sounding than the first songs? They are brighter and the second part sounds like they turned the treble down a bit. It was that way...

Re: Poll: Beyond Belief (1990)

It seems that many are in agreement that this is their pinnacle release and certainly the most popular in the public eye too. This one put them on the map. I am not too fond of the slower songs on here but love the rockers. This was not the heaviest (I reserve this for On Fire and J&H), but it was g...

Re: Poll: Not of this World (1983)

I like this album too. It seemed like a more polished version of MPTY. MPTY is my fav Petra album of all but this one works too. It does seem like a Part II of sorts but with more refinement in each song. That was likely because of the better recording facilities and such that more $$ brings and the...

Re: Poll: Beat the System (1985)

Hmm, interesting to know that Mark Kelly played a keyboard/synth bass during the concert. Did he do that frequently or was that only for this 1985 tour? I am not sure for other albums and tours but I know that from different footage from CITAS that I've seen, he played the keyboard on that song. It...

Re: Poll: Unseen Power (1991)

This album was a little too over the top for me. It sounded like they were trying to ride the wave of BB and take it up a notch commercially. It just did not seem to fit. I was not impressed with the guitar sounds at all; they sounded like chainsaws to me and did not have the bite I knew from On Fir...

Re: Poll: Beat the System (1985)

I really like this album. I loved it when it came out because it was so different than before. I think that most songs on here are keepers except God Gave Rock and Roll to You and Witch Hunt. They just did not do much for me. I saw Petra in concert in 1985 at Astroworld in Houston when I was in high...

Re: Poll: More Power to Ya (1982)

THIS is my favorite Petra album of all time. I love every song on this album and they all speak to me. I really like the last song too because Mark Kelly sings on it with Greg Volz. With Mark singing though, does it not sound like a different band altogether? It is wild how a lead singer can surely ...

Re: Poll: Wake-Up Call (1993)

I have been a Petra fan since 1983 and been reading posts in this forum for a while and generally enjoy the conversation about the band. I like the heavier songs on this album but it is not my favorite album. There are parts of this album that remind me of the MPTY era in its rawness. I like the fac...
