Cell phone stuff - revisited

Post by String » Tue Oct 18, 2005 9:45 am

Just upgraded my phone to that Motorola RAZR type. Cool phone, but I digress.

I am looking for anything to do with Petra. I know I can probably make a 30 second clip MP3 for my ringtone....or whatever you call the MP3 part of it....but anyone have any ideas where I can get Petra screensavers, backgrounds, etc. for this thing?

I can probably tailor this thing and go to http://mobile17.smashsworld.com/ to upload it from my hard drive. I am just wondering if anyone has some pre-made Petra stuff for their cell phone.

Thanks, in advance!!

As cell phones are evil, I rejoice at your effort to bring one to the light side by placing some Christian materials in its memory. Just don't let "All About Who You Know" ring while you're in church. :)

I've got a treo, so I have several videos and about 7 cd's on my phone with a gig card.
But for your Cingular phone, try this website. You can upload photos or jpg's to it. Then use the uploader to get it to your phone. The instructions are on this website...
http://www.davidpye.com/freewap/upload.php
For sprint PCS users use...www.sprintusers.com then click on the "Focus" tab.
You can download to your computer some album covers and pictures from my website http://www.petrapraise.com then use one of the above sites to get them to your phone.

When in church , my cell phone is turned off, i really have it for emergensies when on the road lol, there have been a few times before I got the cell phone last year, that I needed one , and didn't have one. ( ran out of gas one time on a busy highway, also ran out of gas on a country road, and had a couple of car accidents.
when I ran out of gas, cars kept passing me, and 30 min latter someone stopped to help. on the country road , I had my neice with me and luckily she had a cell phone so was able to get help. one of the car accidents was when a school bus decided to back up and turn around right near county line after stopping to let some school kids off, without looking to see if cars was behind them. flattened my then geometro, didn't have a cell phone then. ( I had placed car in park while waiting for children to unload, and didn't have time to place car in reverse.
the other car accident, sunlight was in my eyes, and right after a turn the car in front of me stopped, did not have time to slam on brakes. ( geometro was totalled at that time, and now i drive a saturn.)
so I now keep a cell phone with me ... lol,
and it is usually turned off. batteries last longer that way! and rarely do i get calls on my cell phone. ( It has a camera on it I use more than calling people)

I am on 3gupload.com....it's a cool site but they are limited. The site I listed in the initial post actually allows you to upload anything from your home computer.

I just need to get the software and USB connections to make the 30 second clips. As I am not too artistically inclined, I was hoping I could find a screensaver for this slick device.

Just find out what file type it needs to be and upload that to your phone using the upload. What kind of screensaver are you looking for? You can probably only load one (20-30 seconds) due to memory space. If I've got something I'll email it to you.

It's not a kick... it's a deeply-held conviction. ;)

Actually, they are not technically evil. BUT: they can be expensive to have, they can ring and interrupt important things like church services and meetings, they entice people to drive without paying attention and to rudely talk on the phone in front of strangers. Just a few things I can think of off the top of my head. However, they are nice for things like meeting people when the plans change, getting help when you have car trouble, things like that.

try downloading these 'MID' files from http://www.douglassands.com/petraweb.html
then use the above uploader to get it to your phone.

PS. Michael, you can turn your phone off in church, not use it while driving, etc. My daughters phone cost $7 a month and the phone was only $40 (Virgin mobile).

thought most of these midis played longer in music time to work as a ringtone?

String are any of your midis short enough for a ringtone?

( esp michael smiths friends?)

thought they play longer than a ringtone would. ?

Yes they are....or were for my Nokia. I am aiming to get away from the midi stuff and go for the actual sound files. Right now, I have Voice Of Truth by Casting Crowns as my main ring.

I link I found out that the limit is usually around 20-30k for ringtones (midi's) for the Nokia.

Oh, by the way Petrapraise, I am aware of that site or I think I am. It's my Petra page. :) All those midi's and more I have on my hard drive. The Petra site and my midi site are lagging way behind as I do have more on my hard drive. Life has just been extremely busy in the last month with me leaving one job and starting another.

Oh, and as far as a screen saver is concerned, anything Petra. Right now the only screensaver that came with is some rain drop hitting a water puddle but I know the Pethead community could come up with something tons better.
