1990-1997
Well, I fell in love with petra when I first heard "Underground" on a compilation tape. By that time though, they were just about to release Wake-Up-Call, so I missed a few years. Beyond beleif was still the first petra album I bought so i guess my fav. era started from beyond belief 1990. It ended after No Doubt. 1997 The No Doubt concert was the first time I was able to see Petra live and their show was SO amazing (music, lighting, sound) that that is the VERY reason I got into doing lighting and also when i decided I wanted to write music. I think most everyone will agree (well, it's the truth) that every stage show after No Doubt was all down hill (production wise). The band was still awesome, but my excitement level was deffinately knocked down quite a few notches when I showed up on the next tour and the next, with Basic front and back lighting on double hung box trusses, minimal intellegent lighting if any, no fog, and no cool risers and backdrops. All that to say, my Fav Petra Era started in 1990 because of the music, but ended in 1998-ish when I saw them on the Petra Praise tour and was dissapointed with the concert. That didn't change my love for the music at all, just made it sad to see it all go away.

"All of the Above" is not a copout. It is for people like myself (REAL Petheads!) who feel that ALL of Petra's music is etraordinary. I love Petra and Come and Join Us just as much as I love On Fire! just as much as I love Jekyl & Hyde. After all, you yourself said that it was "hard to answer." I'm a REAL Pethead!mbrew5000 wrote:Hard to answer. I think "all of the above" is a copout.

I would have to go with 86-94 because that is my line-up.
Bob Hartman
John Schlitt
John Lawry
Ronny Cates
Louie Weaver
Not to mention the albums from those years: On Fire, The Rock Cries Out, Beyond Belief, Unseen Power and Wake-Up Call. Those albums are awesome and still my favorites.

1995-2000
Are people ACCTUALY voting for 1995-2000?! I mean, it's still Petra (sort of), and it's still better than 99.9% of bands, but a favorite?
And why is no one voting for anything earlier than '86?

As a visual thinker, I'm going to rip off drcoolguys good photo idea, a little more specific. My alltime mostest favoritests are
, , , , , and
Interestingly enough though the one I have been listening to the most lately is
In other words it pretty much runs the gamut. The last couple of albums are too new for me to decide if they are truly favorites or not (I do like them at the moment though)-an album's got to be around for a good number of years before you can see it's merits clearly in my opinion.
So anyway, I of course said all.

I think we would all categorize them differently.
Taking a number of things into account, I would have done it:
72-78
79-80
81-85
86-87
88-92
93-94
95-00
01-05
With the possibility that 84-85 could stand alone. Washes Whiter Than however must stand alone as far as I'm concerned. I think it was totally wrong to re-release it with Never Say Die.
