As Timbo mentioned, try doing a search for Audacity. You can record it off your sound card. You'll have to get the Lame.dll to export to MP3, but audacity is by far the best free tool out there in my opinion.

Audacity is quite the music editing tool for being free. But there are literally hundreds of free audio rippers out there. Just type video to audio converter or wmv to mp3 or something to that effect.

Working with Audacity

Post by Petra Fan Canada » Thu Jun 22, 2006 11:34 am

I'm trying to rip the audio from the Petra in Detoit for the BB tour using audacity.

It's now in its second hour of importing. Does that sound right?

that sounds weird, I have now ripped and encoded the Farewell DVD from Norway in 320kbit HQ Stereo LAME mp3-file.

you will find it available on my files site, and I will also give the detroit a change tomorrow. It took me around 10 minutes on a P4, 2,4GHz.

Nicely done trodLAN! This is how the Farewell DVD should have been done (with some minor technical improvements, of course). I love hearing all the talking between songs, and it's great to be able to actually see Bob Hartman play his solos! A real tribute to the band rather than the official DVD which often feels like "a tribute to the video editor, featuring Petra".

For those of you wanting to make your audio rips of this file, I recommend Avidemux for exporting the audio to whatever format you prefer and Audicity for editing the audio. Best of all, both these programs are crossplatform, so they'll work whether you're using Windows, Mac OS X, or Linux (like me).
