Trod....what new bands are there on the charts playing 80s and 90s metal that people associate with Petra's past?

You didn't specify 80s/90s metal previously. How many bands playing ANY music from the 80s/90s are hitting it big right now?

If we're talking metal in a more generic sense, however, the market is flooded with Christian bands. Some mainstream magazine even did a headline article about it a couple years back. It was called "The Holy Alliance" or something like that.

Exactly. John could not make a thrash, death, goth, punk metal album. He would sound out of place on it. Heck, can you imagine John singing on a DD, POD or Disciple record? Come on. He would have to make a Petra like metal record. THAT metal would not sell. John singing modern metal would not sell. Rock, hard rock...oh yeah baby. Classic rock....YEE HAW.

I was at a show of the Farewell tour where Petra almost did not play. Bob was ma-ad. Greg Bailey told me about a couple of the last instances over seas. Sue has told me of some IIRC. John told me about some. Louie told me about several in his day. DO NOT misunderstand or misquote me here. The band did the gigs. The band was there for the fans. The band loves(d) their fans. The band just got hosed many times by churches/ministries and promoters. In some cases the band lost money, having to pay their own way over seas and back, at a time when they REALLY could not afford to do so.
