Hi all...wow...I'm amazed. When Petra retired a few years back, so did I from this forum shortly after thinking that it would die down and disappear into history. How wrong I was. I was travelling North (from sydney Australia) for a holiday and switched to a christian radio station on the central coast (don't have this in Sydney). An ad came on avertising 'classic-petra' at the Easter Fest. I thought it was a 'tribute band'. When I got home, done some googleing and found that they reunited.
So...I tried reading up here to what happened, but found that i would need to go through 2-3 years of posts...so I was wondering can ya'll bring me up to speed please?!?! What happened? Why? What's happened to John? Is he still with petra? or are there two petra entities? Please please please...i need to know all the juice in brief format.
BTW...i did purchase the classic CD the next day.
Catch up please!!!!!

Re: Catch up please!!!!!
In a way, there are two Petras now, although this would be the primary one at least for now. Petra (as it were) with John Schlitt is still technically retired, but they have still been getting together from time to time for a show here and there, but they are not and do not appear to have any plans to produce and more music. However, the guys from the BTS period decided to get back together and form an equal partnership called "Classic Petra" under which they will tour and make new music as well as re-record a bunch of the old classics. There is already the album you have, they recorded a show for an upcoming DVD, there is another CD planned not unlike the one you have (10 remakes and 2 new songs) and then after that we are suppose to be getting an album of all new material. Some things have been changing as time has been going by. The world tour was suppose to include many US dates, but has failed to do that so far and rather has primarily yielded dates overseas, yet they still say the US dates will come. Also, the time schedule for when things are getting released has been very subject to change. Most things getting pushed back time and time again. So we've had to be very patient while they work everything out, yet there is no question that we are excited about this and thrilled to see some new music and a popular version of Petra back in action.

Also, about 150 people were felled by the awesome power of Daniel's ban-hammer after one particularly terrifying discussion about the Classic Petra cover art.

There's always the Wikipedia page, and yes, that's something of a self-promotion: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Petra_(band)
