Hello everybody, just bought an totally awesome Head East vynil Flat As A Pancake!

Image

Is from USA, was released 1974 and it's perfect! The old owner were so much careful, for sure.

I've paid BRLR$ 30 it is almost US$13,00. Cheap, huh?

Not bad... I've seen them cheaper, but in used music stores and things like that.

I never got into collecting Head East stuff. I only have one album (s/t), that I got free with a bunch of other stuff. And I have a promo single with a little interview snippet with John from 1976. I have some digital Head East tracks and if it wasn't for John not being overly enthusiastic about his Head East past I would probably listen to it more. I think I would definitely appreciate the music.

Great find, Bruno!

"Pethead" is not a title. It's a way of life.

My local bookman's store has all the Head East albums, in fact they have double of many... Phoenix has a HUGE Head East fan base (well from 1973 to 1980 period) they sell them at $4 a piece.

From what I understand John doesn't really even remember his Head East days. :P We all have stuff in our pasts we're not terribly proud of, but Head East was John's start in music and they were a good band back in the day. I don't listen to it that often either, but I like that old stuff and I love listening to John sing. I was on vacation (I think it was Atlanta Fest) with a friend back in the early 90s and there was something playing on the radio in our hotel room--I listened for a minute and said, "That's JOHN'S old band!" It was "Never Been Any Reason".

The song "never been any reason" is used as backgound music on that movie "Dazed and Confused" with Matthew McConaughey, Ben Affleck and others.

I was like, wait a second.... that sounds like John...

little trivia...

I'm not sure if I know the film you mention, but I know for sure the song is also used in 'Sahara', also with Matthew McConaughey.

Cool. I got mine for a dollar in great condition at my local Habitat for Humanity resale store... I saw it and thought, "Hmm, I think that's John's old band.." Looked at the back, yep.
I bought it for the picture on the back... John was so young!

My Head East (Flat as a Pancake, Get Yourself Up, and A Different Kind of Crazy) all came out of garage sales or bargain bins. I knew of John's connection to Head East thanks to a book Steve Rabey did back in the '80s called "The Heart of Rock and Roll" (IIRC) that told the story of several Christian rock bands and singers.

My turntable came from Radio Shack. I actually got mine at the RS Outlet in Fort Worth, TX; they sell remaindered and cosmetically damaged material from RS. Mine had a broken cover. No big deal. It's labeled as an RCA, but RCA was the RadioShack house brand for a short time, and this one is identical to one marketed both by Optimus and Realistic.
