'More Power To Ya' and 'This Means War' to be reissued.

Post by pethead97 » Tue Apr 10, 2012 7:20 am

Well, on top of "The Best of the '80s", EMI CMG will be re-releasing two Petra classics..."More Power to Ya" and "This Means War". Both, according to the EMI's website, will be remastered and have three live bonus tracks each.

Here are some sites for more information:
MORE POWER TO YA (30th Anniversary Edition) July 03,2012
http://www.emicmgdistribution.com/produ ... id=1905510

THIS MEANS WAR! (25th Anniversary Edition) July 03,2012
http://www.emicmgdistribution.com/produ ... id=1905511

hmm....if memory serves me right, I think in 2008 those albums were paired for the "2 For 1" series.

Don't tell me they are going to put the CITAS live tracks on TMW and hope no one notices, or on MPTY and pretend they weren't recorded a couple of years later! LOL!!!! Surely not! Blasphemy!

Ok I won't tell you, but you knew they couldn't resist it. I will be eager to hear the remastered MPTY & TMW!

Okay, forget about me buying Petra: Best Of The '80s...I'm gonna get the remastered version of This Means War!.

I loaned my old copy to a friend of mine, and she ended up moving out of state with it. :(

Can't wait until John Schlitt's The Greater Cause comes out, too.

This is beyond insulting! I've had it with WORD, STARSONG and every major label. Why do they need to try to fool the fans like this. I can not believe they pulled this stunt with the "Live Tracks". They are really full of 'It". I am really mad about this. And Petra gets Zilch from this. Every other Re-mastered version gets real unreleased bonus material which we fans crave, but Petra, thanks to WORD gets nothing. Of course I understand the band has nothing to do with this. I won't buy these of course!

Remastering might just make this worth the money. The bonus tracks are beyond ridiculous, but we are all familiar with EMI's desperate attempts to get some money. At least they'll invest a little bit in this album by hiring someone to remaster the albums. I'm especially looking forward to a remastered TMW.

Beyond insulting? What? Do you think Jonathan's track listing is for real? I thought it was a joke?

They *are* real. It is a screenshot of the actual EMI website announcing the release. MPTY will have live versions of Stand Up, Judas' Kiss and More Power To Ya as bonus tracks. Convenient that these are exactly the songs from MPTY that are played on CITAS (why not include Road To Zion as well?). So I guess it's safe to assume that these will actually be CITAS tracks and nothing new.

It would have been better if they just released a remastered version without any bonus tracks, or maybe a remix or two at the end.

The bonus tracks really don't matter to me, since they are nothing new, but if the sound of those albums has improved, I'd be very willing to give 10 bucks a piece for them.

I'm not insulted in the least. For starters I think these albums have been out of print for a couple years. Now they are being re-released with a couple bonus tracks. OK, so maybe that isn't enticing for some of us, BUT they are also remastering the album? That could really be cool. Even better if they put some new liner notes in a with a nice writeup.
