John did not choose to go and record the song; he did not search Petra's catalog and look for songs to sing.
Guiseppi Davi and his producers approached John - and ASKED JOHN to sing the duet with him. Davi did not ask Greg, he asked John. That was DAVI's choice. John only said "OK, I'll do it."
So what you're saying is, Davi was creatively dependent on John?
No, please, put the baseball bat down... I was only joking.

Not bad. Ol' Johnny Boy's still got it.
Warning to folks who haven't watched the video yet: there's no sound in the first several seconds, so don't turn your speakers up or you're gonna get knocked out of your chair!

I still think it was rather disrespectful to not approach the guy who actually wrote and sang the song for Petra, but that's just me.

I'm sure its just you and maybe a few others; Greg doesn't seem to have an issue with it so why should any of us. Have you ever thought about maybe Greg wasn't interested in doing it, or maybe it was just the preference of Davi and his label that they contact John about doing it; John does have a strong following in Europe and maybe they wanted to go with someone that has been more accessable in Europe over the last few years. BTW the song is officially a Petra song & not a Greg song and we all as Christians & Petra fans should be excited that the song is being taught to a whole new set of people.

Yeah, well, somehow I think I'd be hearing folks singing a different tune if someone had approached Greg to do this sort of thing with "Just Reach Out."

From my point of view I wouldn't care as long as it is professionally done because it keeps the Petra name out there, but I really don't think Greg's vocal style really fits in with "Just Reach Out" and much of anything else in the John Era except for maybe a few ballads like Love, First Love, Prayer, and some of the P&W songs done by Petra. I will say that I see a few on both sides wanting to split hairs over these tunes but isn't that really childish & inmature especially since it doesn't really seem that anyone in Petra's Official capacity has any problem with it? just saying...

It's just an opinion, man, no need to start tossing out the insults.

Personally, I'd love to hear Greg have a go at some Schlitt material. I think he'd rock it.
