John's Christmas album
John's Christmas album
I contributed to The Great Cause. I believed in the project wholeheartedly before the funding was in place, and I have no regrets about support it.
I may have missed an existing thread on this topic. How many of you would consider supporting John's kickstarter for a new Christmas album? I am not sure whether I can again - money is limited for all of us, after all. But I would certainly consider it. What about the rest of you committed fans?
Thanks,
Andy

Matthew, any particular reason you'd want to hear that song recorded? Have you heard it?
I'll probably chip in, but haven't decided for how much yet.

Even if you chip in $10 - you get the digital download... it's a good deal! Also remember that your credit card will ONLY be charged if the campaign is successful. If not enough money is raised ahead of time, there will be no album - and you won't get charged.
None of the songs that John recorded back then (I think it was 2001) will ever see the light of day... the masters are who knows where in a studio in IL.

Re: John's Christmas album
Sue, just curious. Why would John have no interest in some day putting out the ca. 2001 material? Even if it sounds dated, there are many who would buy it just because they never got to hear it. Does it have something to do with who owns the rights to the music? Even if it was available for only a digital download, it seems a shame to let all of that time and money spent in the studio go to waste.

"Little Drummer Boy" rocked out the way John knows how.

Re: John's Christmas album
I think the 2001 album never got beyond the demo stage. I can imagine John wouldn't be interesting in revisiting some of that old material, because he won't ever let the demos as they are see the light of day. He's very strict about the quality of what he releases (just like Bob). I don't think it's a rights issue. John probably doesn't have any interest in digging up an old and abandoned (and to him maybe already irrelevant) project.drake78 wrote:Sue, just curious. Re: John's Christmas album
I'm in now with this Kickstarter; This is going to be even better than TGC KS; because the things John is giving away are really cool. I got the JAH package deal.

Re: John's Christmas album
Keep the ideas coming - and if you're a Crew member, make sure to post your ideas on the UPDATE #2 Thread: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/joh ... ject/posts
p-freak, you are right. Those songs are in the past, just demos and John won't let anything like that ever get out because they're not up to his quality standards. In fact, most of them are very basic and are not even a complete demo.
Exe - those JAH flats are really nice... and they're signed by both John and Bob.
Seriously - if anyone is even the LEAST bit interested in hearing John's new CD - - please make a pledge. Think of it as a PRE-BUY: for $15 you can get the CD which includes shipping (in the U.S.). PLUS you will have access to the Crew Site, which gets you an up-close & personal look into the making of the CD, with vids, photos, and dialog from John. It's updated regularly as the project moves along. AND it's interactive - so you can comment and post 'til your heart's content!

Re: John's Christmas album
Santa got run over by a tour bus
driven by a drummer in a rage
people think that it was Louie Weaver
Santa did not bring a new drum cage.
Santa Clause was deafened by Bob Hartman
when Santa came into the studio
Bob's guitar was blaring while recording
a Petra song that proves he's not too old.
Santa likes to go to John and Dorlas
Dorla leaves great cookies by the tree
Santa sits and eats them in Johns rocker
While humming Petra songs on Christmas Eve.
