The Petra Zone

So has anyone else heard the new version of Prayer by John Schlitt & John Lawry!!! Amazing!! Great to see them working together! Hopefully this is just the start!!!!!

Where did you get this info? Is there a place we can hear it?

Sounds amazing.

It's up on Johnny Lawry's Soundcloud and at this point there is a link from Facebook to it. It was said to have been worked up for the Sene-Fit benefit at the end of Oct. They didn't get to perform it there so instead of letting it go to waste John & John got together sometime around Christmas and this is the end result.

I would love to see Lawry back with this version of Petra in the future; I know he doesn't want to tour but he could be involved in the production/recording process.

I think if anyone could bring the Dream team lineup back together it would be John Lawry, the guy has a great heart. Great remake.

Really enjoyed it. It reminds me of John Elefante's solo stuff. It has that kind of vibe to it.

The next question that will come up is is this a petra song or a song with a couple of petra performers involved. I would say it is up to John John and Bob.

It's a Petra song performed by two Petra members.

That seems to be the way they are taking it. The song is a petra song but the version is a song bu two petra performers. If Bob worked with this version I would call it a petra song. That saying I would love to see John Lowery team up with Petra and do this version live. Also if Petra makes a new cd and puts this in as a bonus track or something I wouldn't object.

I agree with you on bringing him in a the keyboard/BGV area but not as a producer; I've never really cared much for his productions from a Petra rock standpoint. His productions have value but not in the hard rock realm that Bob would be looking to go.

Producing, I would grab Brown Bannister or the Elefantes Bros. John Lawry wrote and "In the Likeness of you" probably one of my favorite songs... John has more depth in ballads, ones that are truly full of depth and meaning.

I agree in part regarding Bob's involvement, but wasn't this song basically a "duet of the Johns"? There weren't any guitar parts or anything on the studio version or live.

Loved the remake - both of the guys still sing great and the new background vocal arrangements are amazing!

For what it's worth: Google says that Prayer was written by Bob and John Elefante.
