This is a great album, which is why I'm gonna have a hard time picking up a favorite. To me, this is a polar opposite to Back to the Street. A commanding album, full of hard, rocking songs where you can feel the confidence of Schlitt in his voice. The songs are a better suit for his style and voice, and he shows it all throughout.
If I were to pick a favorite, I would probably be torn between the first three. It's such a perfect opening both musically, lyrically, and thematically. I'll have to think about this one. If I were to pick the weakest... probably "The Water Is Alive", but I still like it.

What a great album! I still remember listening to this album non stop for about 6 months after it came out. All the rockers are great on this one, the only thing I feel was lacking was the ballads; they just seem weak compared to what the band had done in the past.

As I said in the BTTS poll thread, this album is what hooked me on Petra forever. I love 7 songs and like the other three. But, I'll never forget the first time I heard the drums and the first verse of TMW, in the parking lot of a Christian Supply, and how that first song changed everything. So, that will be my listed fave.

This was my first Petra tape. I think You Are My Rock has always been my favorite.

I went with All the King's Horses for the energy. A strong album that didn't date really well, but still a fav to listen to.

So hard to choose between so many great tunes from my favourite Petra album. I give the edge to:
YOU ARE MY ROCK
...with Kenaniah close second.

I LOVE the concert version of Get on Your Knees, but as for the recorded ones, I picked This Means War.

My favorite song from this album is "Dead Reckoning".
"There's got to be a reckoning...when you hear the Spirit beckoning!".

This is a great album...It's hard to choose just one. I chose "Don't Let Your Heart Be Hardened" though. That song is very special. I love "Get On Your Knees", "He Came, He Saw", and "I Am Available" too.

Re: Poll: This Means War! (1987)
I had this album when it first came out, but really didn't listen to it. I wasn't really listening to any Christian music for that matter. Once I was properly introduced to Petra during the BB album, I went back and listened to this one, and OF. Frankly, BB doesn't do it for me the way the albums before and after do.
In my infant stage of drumming and doing things musically, Get On Your Knees really appealed to to me. Lots of good stuff going on in there. He Came He Saw is also a good opener, and has always been a good one live. In the abstract, I tend to think of This Means War as a hokey song, but everytime I hear it, especially when they do it live, I'm reminded how good it is. All that said, I went with Get On Your Knees.
