IF John did an album of secular covers....

Post by brent » Sat Apr 12, 2014 5:56 am

What songs would you pick? They could be secular songs from any era of rock. Personally, I would pick a few modern rock songs just to show John can sing with the best of these kids. I would like to hear John sing Shout At The Devil by Motley Crue and Escape by Journey.

Stone in Love, Maggie May, Rock of Ages, Sharp Dressed Man. I'd like to hear him sing these!

I think he could pull off some AC/DC like Hells Bells, Dirty Deeds, & Back In Black.

I'd love to hear John take a crack at the classic Journey catalog. Maybe throw in some Def Leppard and Bon Jovi as well.

Ooh, good question because I've thought about this. These songs are still like 20 years old, but it would be cool to hear John do something like Alive by Pearl Jam, Hollywood by Collective Soul, Long Road to Ruin by Foo Fighters, Hemorrhage by Fuel, Into Dust by Mazzy Star, Lovers in Japan by Coldplay (mainly because I wonder how their songs would sound done by someone with clear sinuses.

Even older... Let the Day Begin by the Call, Lonely is the Night by Squier.

I think it's fine what they are doing already with the ACLJ band. It's spaced out enough to enjoy their "takes" and then after a while, you are ready for the next song. A whole album at once would be overload. Plus, to state the obvious, we aren't having to pay for it ...
