Interesting. A tale of two bands. One working on their sixth album since getting back together. The other, not so much. Good to see them together though!

If it wasn't so far away I would SO GO TO THIS.

What if they toured North America? Would they draw big enough crowds to make it feasible for both bands?

Stryper does play America and they can fill rooms like the Hard Rock in some markets. In others they play clubs/bars, etc. I am sure there is some cross pollination of audiences, but my impression of the Stryper audiences is they are more secular. I don't see Petra doing a bar tour.

Touring bands have to get along. While I am sure these two would, Stryper is publicly more liberal and secular. Petra is a little bit more sanitized. John will not drink or smoke in public. Stryper members will. Their versions of Christianity are different. The Christian music industry hasn't been inclusive of Stryper (for good reason). I don't see this being a long term thing.

Because of the vastly different genres of music and show styles, Petra had better open for Stryper. Petra has a more laid back show, with more ballads and speaking that isn't shallow. The two audiences expect different things.

I do understand what you're saying. However, although I don't have firsthand knowledge about whether John drinks or smokes (and it would be none of my business and not my place to judge if he does) it seems to me it would be kind of dumb for him to do that; I would guess he probably knows better and takes care of himself.

I don't think it's my place to try to regulate what other adults do. The Bible actually doesn't say having an occasional drink is a problem. What it says is that getting drunk is a problem. Smoking isn't good for you, but that's not going to stop people from smoking.

I will when I get a chance. I have been wanting to read it, I just haven't gotten to it yet. I have a long list of books I want to read.

I had my share of relatives when I was growing up who smoked, got drunk and had mouths like sewers. They were not happy people for the most part, and I understood that at a young age.

Great! That's 15-20 minutes from home. Bought my ticket a couple of nights ago as soon as I read about this. Didn't hesitate a bit.

Stryper was my favorite rock band when I was a kid/teen in the 80's, and then I switched to Petra in the 90's, so this concert is more than I can ask for. I've seen Stryper once (twice, if I count the time Michael, Oz, and Tim got back together in the late 90's), and Petra once, and both were great experiences. Can't wait for this.

I had a conversation with him once in which he told me that he has never smoked, and he never will.

I've known far more Petra fans that listen to some Stryper than Stryper fans that also like Petra- a tour would be an interesting idea for sure. Stryper has toured with all sorts of bands, not always sharing the same spiritual philosophy. Petra hasn't. That doesn't mean a tour would not work, it is just an observation. Also, I think Stryper is a band that is hitting on all cylinders. I like their new music better than the stuff they wrote in the 80's. Petra... well I wish I could hear a steady stream of new music to compare. No way Petra would headline if this was done today.

I forsee Petra playing a more heavy setlist to please the Stryper audience. Petra fans wont care which songs that they play for this. I wouldnt. I just wish that this happened when both were in their prime. Although some would argue that Stryper is better now than in the 80's. Nonetheless, its gonna be a great one!!!
