While I agree with you for the most part, I can't believe you have IPP in your Bottom 5 when OBS and PTSD are far worse. Also, MSOIJA has WAY too much klezmer influence for an Elefante-era album.Boray wrote:Top 5:

Re: TOP 5- BOTTOM 5 PETRA ALBUMS
My top 5, in no particular order:
1) Wake-up Call
2) More Power To Ya
3) Never Say Die
4) Jekyll & Hyde
5) Beat the System
Bottom 5, in no particular order:
1) Revival - doesn't really sound like Petra; should have been titled, "Sonic Flood, featuring John Schlitt!"
2) God Fixation - as I like to say, it's a very good album; it's just not a very good Petra album
3) No Doubt - this album has no identity; sounds like a bunch of random songs from different artists
4) Unseen Power - some good songs, but overall it's just a generic Elefante Bros. production
5) Farewell - the recording sounds muddy, and John Schlitt was not in top form; plus, it sounds like a tiny crowd which takes away some of the impact of a live record
Having said that, Petra's bottom five albums are still pretty darn good, all things considered. There are a lot of bands out there who'd love to have any of those albums in their catalog.

I know, and it sounds like it. They didn't even "juice" the mix to make the crowd sound bigger.brent wrote:It was a tiny crowd.

Re: TOP 5- BOTTOM 5 PETRA ALBUMS
Whadayamean, top 5, bottom 5 Petra albums?
I never heard of any other Petra albums but these three...
1 MPTY
2 NOTW
3 NSD
...which ought to be preserved in the Smithsonian, and the National Archives.
Are you sure that any other "Petra" recordings weren't some other band trying to copy Petra?
Maybe some southern gospel quartet trying to make a comeback?
