I knew he was part of Randy Matthew's entourage, but never realised they ever had a name for the support band and they actually recorded something.

Looking for this now!

Ha! I know Dino & Jana Pastin and had no idea this existed. I'll have to ask them about this. I believe Jana is thanked in the liner notes to Not of This World.

Is that Neil deGrasse Tyson in the front row?

Ha! Ha! On John Schlitt’s “Live It Loud” interview with Louie Weaver, Louie kept calling his old band “Fireworks” in addition to not recalling many of the details of his time in Petra. Poor Louie.

I'm not sure why you find that so funny.

After your memory, they say that the next thing to go is your sense of humor.

Louie is credited with playing with Randy in both bands and with Marty.

OK... I'm still not sure why you find it so funny that Louie is unable to accurately recall past events. And given your above comment, are you suggesting that he is becoming addled and humorless? Just seems like an odd thing to laugh about.

Crossfire is pre-Fireworks. It seems Crossfire was the name for the group that toured with Randy Matthews. Louie's credited with drums on two Randy Matthews albums (s/t and Plugged In). Louie joined Fireworks after Crossfire, and with them he's credited on two albums.

I think in general we have more interest in those early years than the band members themselves. I've occasionally tried to enlist some band members in helping me reconstruct their discography, but some of them even didn't remember some of the credits I'd found. But some were helpful as well.

I was unaware that there was actually a band called “Fireworks.” I thought Louie was confusing “Crossfire” with “Fireworks” in his older years. I somehow made an issue out of a non-issue, and for that I apologize.

I can relate to some extent. I work for a major production company that travels all over the country providing technical and creative services for corporate events, and it all starts to run together after a while. During particularly busy stretches, someone could ask me about a show I was on mere weeks ago, and I'll have no memory of it. What's even funnier is when one of my coworkers will swear I was on a show I know for a fact I didn't work. I'll probably remember very few of my gigs two-decades from now.

Have had that happen to me. After a while it's all a big blur.
