Favorite "unpopular" Petra songs
Favorite "unpopular" Petra songs
Every so often, people discuss their favorite Petra songs, and most of the time, they include hits and favorites such as "Beyond Belief", "This Means War!", "More Power To Ya", etc. I thought it would be fun if this time, people listed their favorite songs that weren't/aren't so popular (Last Daze, anyone?).
Here's some of my faves:
Sight Unseen
Underground
All the King's Horses
Open Book
Who's on the Lord's Side
Two Are Better Than One
Think on These Things
If I Had to Die For Someone

Shadow of a Doubt
Speak to the Sky
We Hold Our Hearts out to You
The Water is Alive
Just Reach Out
We Exalt Thee
I'm Not Ashamed
Deep Love
Breathe In
Holy Ghost Power
Gonna Fly Away

"...We bent our backs and pulled the oars to the beat of Louie's solo..."
Mhhhh...
Yea, there's a Petra song I don't liked in anymood, anyway, anyplace: "God Gave Rock and Roll to you".
When the discussion started, I been in the place of the people who don't love this song. Hey, I'm a truly Petehad more than 15 years, and still don't liked that tune. Why? Well, Bob is not the writter, and that means low quality in lirycs, very important thing in Petra music. Biblical references? None.
When this particular song start in my stereo, I change the track. No matter the CD: Come and Join Us, Beat the system, CITAS, always turned off the track. Maybe you say I'm a little crazy, but that tune never give me peace and rest.
Anyway, That is the only Petra song who I don't liked.
And 'Breathe In'. Don't be bad. For me, FOR ME it's a slow, large and boring song. No other thing, just personal reasons.

call me crazy but
I like them all LOLOL!!!!!.
I mean, I love all related to 70`s and 80`s and I don`t know, each petra song has an special place in my heart, each song brings me a memory of something ya know.
and that`s not something I have with other bands, petra is the only band I can say that I enjoy all songs. though of course I have my favorites.

I'm with Elo, I like 'em all. I don' t think there's a Petra song I really dislike, although I do like some more than others.
I'm not extremely picky though.

Wow, I just found a gem that is real vintage early Petra. I don't think it was on any album and the recording sounds live. Sorry, Petra, but as vintage as this song is and as collectable as it is, it is probably the cheesiest made Petra song!
The name: Rockin' On With Jesus
If any of you are interested, I am on ZPOC under Music, Chat, and Videos Fit For The King if you really want to have a hoot!!
Great stuff!!

Pretty much your entire list are faves of mine, Sussanah (and everything below King's Ransom in Pethead1's list). Others are:
Open Book
For All You're Worth
Stand in The Gap
All Over Me
Last Daze (seriously, I love this song)
Over The Horizon
Magnet of the World
Tons of others, too, can't think of them though.

You know, every time I play the old albums... like Washes Whiter Than or Come Join Us or More Power To Ya, and others, and I hear the songs that are often underrated and rarely discussed... and I always wonder... surely I can't be the only one who thinks this tune is awesome! I can't tell you how many times this has happened. Especially with songs coming from the Greg X Volz era.

Ah, yes, Washes Whiter Than, Come and Join Us and More Power To Ya. They have a lot of good songs on them.
I think God Fixation is a very underrated CD, there are some really good songs on that CD.

Here are some of my neglected favourites. I've left out my favs from the 86-96 era because they are not neglected.
Walkin' in the Light - (So many awesome rockers from this era, but this one tops them all.)
Without You I Would Surely Die
Come and Join Us
Where Can I Go
Chameleon
Rose Colored Stained Glass Windows
Disciple - (This song rocks. Great duet with Mark Kelly.)
Speak to the Sky - (One of the best.)
I Waited for the Lord
A Matter of Time
Jesus, Friend of Sinners
It's All About Who You Know - (Hasn't had a chance to be neglected, but thought I'd mention it anyway.)
There are only two Petra songs that I can't stand to listen to:
Friends (All in the Family of God)
Hand on My Heart
I don't know what they were thinking...
