Wanted: hi-res Petra '70s photos

Post by sue d. » Wed Mar 26, 2008 1:22 pm

Does anyone out there have hi-resolution (300 dpi) photos of the early Petra crew?

I know there are a lot out there (I have some as well), but I'm looking for hi-resolution shots for print media.

If anyone has some, or access to some, please email me!

Have you emailed Degroff, Hough or the others, or even Volz?

Louie probably has some.

What about Becky Volz? She was mixing the early shows and she was the front office for the band. I bet she has all kinds of stuff. Then again, she may have trashed it when she left.

There were some 70s promo-shots at the old site of ghf-band, but I think that's been down for a long time. I remember downloading and archiving all these pictures, but I can't find them right now.

You could send a PM to Jen.

Also, who was the person who put together the slide show at the Ft. Wayne Farewell concert?

Pieter, if those shots were on the net they probably were at 72 dpi, not 300.

Jen... oh yeah! Reoracer here on the Zone.... I'll dig and see if I can find her addy.

I have no idea who did the photos for Ft. Wayne, but again - they probably got them from the net, and as such - 72 dpi, not 300.

They might have been only 72 dpi, but they were large. I guess over 1 MB per photo. But I haven't found them yet. I'll keep looking.

As far as I know there have been three reunions. The first one in Angola, IN, in 2004. I don't know if that one was filmed. I know Josh was there and he has a review at PRMW.com.
The second one was in Ft. Wayne, IN, 12-November-2005, and is available as an audio download at John's site. Video exists of this recording but was only given to the bands and some promoters. I don't think that this will ever see the light of day.
And if I'm correct the third reunion was in Enid, OK, 19-November-2005, but I could be wrong on that one. No idea if there is any video footage of this show.
Bill wasn't able to make the first reunion show.

I hope that one day some full 70s video-bootleg will appear, but I doubt it.

Enid...no video. I was there. Sound was poor in that concrete barn too.

Petra almost didn't play.

The old band was not that good. There was some attitudin' goin' on too.

I found those old pictures from the GHF-site!!

Brent, sounds like a disappointing event... Do you remember what songs the original Petra played?

It was not horrible. It was what I thought that it would be.

Hey. All of those guys stopped playing as a group for many reasons. They were in their prime long ago. So, it was what it was. One of the guys had an attitude, and was hard to talk to. I knew that he would be, so it was not a surprise.

I don't recall the set list, because I don't like that era of Petra, and the sound was so poor in that all concrete round barn...I couldn't stay in there very long. The sound system was G H E T T O! The mix was iffy. I stood outside in the lobby at my table, with my buddy Alan.

If they're hi-res, yes. Otherwise they won't be good enough for print. But I'd like to collect a bunch of these and put them up in a page on John's site.

I was a the Ft. Wayne show, and I have most of the original band's performance on VHS-C. But it's not on DVD or anything like that.

That show was alot of fun, with the guys having a blast, the audience loving it, and really - they were not bad at all. Too bad the Enid show was disappointing, because the one in Ft. Wayne was great!
