"The Passion of the Christ" on DVD and Video
So, who is going to get "The Passion of the Christ" on either DVD or Video? I most certainly am.

Passion
Cathy wants to buy it, and I'd probably pick it up if I had some money lying around, but to be honest I'm a little lukewarm on having it around the house. We can't watch it with a 4-year-old around, for sure. And how often am I going to want to watch the violence-slash-Catholic-overtones stuff? We have other DVDs that actually have a much greater impact on me because they emphasize the spiritual side of what was going on rather than capitalizing on the violence. Not to say that I didn't think the movie was great... I actually wanted to see it again in the theater, but Cat wouldn't go (hehe, I'm telling on her now that she's here! ). I would recommend anyone who only has thirty bucks grab a copy of the !Hero, The Rock Opera DVD from HeroStoreOnline.com (fill out this survey first to get a discount)... it has some great music and will really get you thinking about Who Jesus Was (100% God+100% man) and what He did, both in His life and on the Cross. Then if you've got thirty more bucks, get The Passion to watch once in a while too.
But that's just me. Maybe others get more out of The Passion than they would out of !Hero.

I got mine at K Mart for $15.00. They said they had sold over half of what they got in.
The also carded me . I told the girl thank you very much. She looked like I was stupid . Then she saw 1964 on my DL and did some quick adding and kinda laughed and said your welcome. I am having a hard time walking today so that was needed to let me know I am not as old as I fell.

Those asleep will be awakened
Not a one will be forsaken.
Not a one will be forsaken.
My nephew picked it up tonight (which was real surprising to both his mom and me...pleasant surprise. The prayers are working for him!!!) and him, his mom (my sis...duh!!), and I watched it. This was my third viewal and my nephew and sisters first. Power stuff....even the third time around!!
I always get choked up when Christ is carrying the cross down the Viadelarosa (sp??), all battered, bloody, and bruised, and he colapses, Mary comes running up after the flashback of his childhood and Jesus has "See Mary, I make all things new!". Forgive me if I misquoted.
Oh, and by the way, on my way home from my sister's after watching the movie, I stopped at W-Mart as well and picked up the DVD and the soundtrack for it. I paid 15 dollars for the DVD as well.

viewing experience
I'd be interested to know how the viewing experience differs when you're watching it in your living room on a 21-inch TV with family vs. watching it in a dark theater on a huge screen with hundreds of other people. Do you guys find it packs the same "punch" and seem as real as it did in the theater, or does it seem different, more "staged" or what? I'm not suggesting that I think it's not well done, but since we don't have the DVD yet and even when/if we do get it I'm not sure how we'll watch it with Mikey around, I thought it would be interesting to ask.
