Tragic Tomatoes, OH NO!

Post by spottacus » Thu Aug 24, 2006 3:38 pm

My wife called me at work about an hour ago with the bad - no, make that the tragic news: My dogs ate all my tomatoes. Worse than that, they ate the vines that the tomatoes were growing on! Now I probably won't get a second chance for tomatoes this year.

Worst of all, the first two tomatoes had turned pink overnight last night. And I've never grown anything in my life, this was my first try (I'm 32 years old). And, one of the plants belonged to my four year old son.

Here's what happened - the plants were on our picnic table, out on our deck. A sudden wind kicked up and blew both pots (four plants) off the table onto the deck, where the dogs discovered that they not only like ripe tomatoes, but green ones as well. And vines. And potting soil.

Stupid dogs.

If I didn't know who you were, Spott, I might have thought it was another stupid spam post about tomatoes. :P I've never heard of a dog that liked tomatoes. Those four-legged creatures can be a pain in the rear.

Inspammatory material? Dude that's funny.

I had a yellow rose (which are apparently supposed to be a bit more difficult to grow) that grew beautifully the first year before the dog destroyed it. This is only one of the myriad of reasons that I like cats.

Good dog, Gooooood dog. String hates tomatos!! They are evil. Ever see The Attack Of The Killer Tomatos? My dad loved tomatos and look at where he is at....six feet under and in Heaven. But, that wasn't due to tomatos...just kidding!!
