Re: Stryper & Petra concert
I can't seem to get into Stryper the way I love Petra. Maybe it's Sweet's voice. Anyway, I would still go for a S/P concert if it came to the southeastern US.

Re: Stryper & Petra concert
I heard they're playing God Fixation from start to finish as their new setlist for the Puerto Rico show.

Re: Stryper & Petra concert
I think those were the best I got from Petra.
As for the concert, I thought it was great. Three local bands opened:
Stryper started at around 11:30 and they really brought it. Hard, fast-paced rock. Sweet had a lot of energy on stage and they all sounded great. Lot of great songs, and probably the best 2-3 from their new album (which is pretty durn good).
Show ended at around 1:00am and at that moment I was reminded that I'm not 20 anymore
As for the concert, I thought it was great. Three local bands opened:
- Sacrosanct or something like that. Local Christian band in the heavy metal/progressive genre. I only listened to 1-2 songs cause they had already started when I got there. But what I heard it was good.
Dragon Five or Dragonfly, not sure. Another local band, which was more of a curiosity since most of the members were around 8-12 years old. Decent skills, but they still have a lot to learn. They played mostly hard rock covers and one original song.
Athaxia. A local heavy metal band. I had listened to them about 10 years ago, but they got back together. Pretty good, fast-paced sound a-la Iron Maiden or Helloween.

As for the concert, I thought it was great. Three local bands opened:
Petra started at around 9:30-9:45. They did a great show, mostly towards a hard-rock audience as you can see from the line-up. I really enjoyed their performance, John Schlitt sounded as clean as ever and engaged the audience perfectly, Lawry showed a lot of energy, Bob was his usual calm self but man, that guitar sounded great, and Greg and Christian seemed to be really into it and enjoying it. If anything, I felt a bit sad for the guys because most of the audience there were really waiting for Stryper, so although they gave Petra a warm welcome, I got the impression that most people there didn't care. Which is sad, considering the trajectory that these people have had. Still, that's just a side complaint. The important point is that I enjoyed it a lot. Heck, after they finished I was willing to go home and I still would've felt I got my money's worth.

Thank you for the pics and review. I think John sounds better then ever; It really looked like they were all having fun unlike during the Classic Petra shows.
